The Vigil of Revival in the City: Praying for Awakening in Urban Communities
A vigil for revival in cities is a focused time of prayer that asks God to move powerfully in America’s urban communities. We pray for awakening hearts, renewing churches, restoring hope, and drawing many to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. It recognizes that cities carry influence, diversity, need, and opportunity, and it calls upon the Lord to make His presence known in every neighborhood and sphere of life.
Cities often shape culture, opportunity, and public life, but they also carry deep needs, burdens, and spiritual hunger. Today we pray for God to visit our cities with mercy and power, in order to bring repentance where there is hardness, hope where there is despair, and renewal where there is weariness. We ask Him to strengthen churches, unite believers, and transform communities so that urban centers become places where His truth, compassion, and salvation are made known.

Praying for Revival in Cities
- Pray for spiritual awakening in major cities, asking God to stir hearts toward repentance, faith, and renewed hunger for Him
- Ask the Lord to strengthen pastors, churches, ministries, and believers serving in urban communities with courage, unity, and love
- Intercede for neighborhoods marked by violence, poverty, division, or despair, asking God to bring healing, peace, and restoration
- Pray for city leaders, educators, workers, and families, that they would be guided by wisdom, justice, and humility
- Ask God to make His name known in every part of the city, turning places of brokenness into testimonies of His grace and power

If you live in a city or urban area, reach out to someone who does not to join you in praying for a need, burden, or neighborhood you know well. If you do not live in a city, reach out to someone who does and ask them for an issue or ministry near them that you can pray over. Let this be a day of shared burden for you both.
